Bobble

As much as I love dressing for the winter, doing outfit posts at this time of year is possibly one of my least favourite things. I get to wear some of my all time favourite combinations and yet, when the daylight hours start drawing in at around 3pm, it means it’s kind of a nightmare actually photographing any of them. We finally managed to shoot this hazy, super casual outfit just as the last of the light was disappearing last week.

I mentioned a little while ago in my autumn wish list that I had started looking for a replacement for my favourite, but now falling to bits pom pom beanie. The original was super cheap, but it was better than all of the others I’d seen on the high street with its snug fit and huge fuzzy pom pom. I’ve been cursing myself ever since it started looking tatty for not getting a few backups.

I searched everywhere, from cheap to high end, but I just couldn’t find another which quite measured up to it. They just weren’t the same. Then, as if by some winter miracle Irisie got in touch and there, sitting in their accessories section, was my favourite hat! It’s kind of funny how attached you can get to something that you only picked up on a whim, but I’ve definitely ordered myself a few backups now!

Cold Shoulder

dsc_8996_2dsc_8904_2dsc_8672_2dsc_8951_2dsc_9028_2

I’ve been out of action for the past week or so with a horrendous cold, so this outfit is actually from a few weeks ago when it wasn’t quite so freezing. I still bundled myself up in warmer layers, but I couldn’t resist briefly showing off the cut out shoulder detailing on this Quiz top.

From this point on though, I’ll be keeping myself swathed in cosy layers. With a rubbish immune system and the festive season and my holiday now fast approaching, I couldn’t think of anything worse than being ill for the start of it. So, I’ll be stocking up on vitamins and making batches of fresh lemon and ginger tea for the rest of the winter. If you have any ways that you swear by for warding off a cold, I’d love to hear them!

Is there a more perfect time for wandering around in a heavy black cape than Autumn? Crunching through the leaves and swishing around is made all the more fun when you’re wrapped up in your witchiest attire. I’ve been searching for a good one for ages, and I think I may have finally found the perfect one in this Necessary Evil cloak from Kate’s Clothing. It’s made from a wonderfully thick wool blend, giving it this beautifully dramatic drape and the weighty material effortlessly keeps the chill in the air at bay. What I love most though is that I’ve finally found a cape with a hood, I feel like Little Red Riding Hood’s witchy older sister!

The Rogue + The Wolf are a brand that have been on my radar for a while now, I love brands which combine fashion and technology and their 3D printed jewellery showcases just how well this can be done. Printing pieces from both plastic and more traditional mediums such as steel, their collections are beautiful, unique and highly attention grabbing.

I don’t think anything makes me happier than the return of leather jacket weather and getting to dig out my favourites again. There really is nothing like throwing on a killer leather jacket when you’re feeling a little rubbish, it adds instant cool and always makes me feel like I could take on the world. This Rick Owens jacket is the epitome of that, you just can’t have a bad day whilst wearing this beauty.

These polished black corian arrow earrings from Cindy Leper are like the jewellery equivalent of that, and I don’t ever want to take them off. I’ve never felt more like a warrior princess than I have with these through my ears. They’re striking in their modern yet primitive design and so beautifully crafted, they’re like wearable pieces of art.

I’m not usually much of a fan of slogan tees, I think more often than not they can be a bit naff, but I just couldn’t resist this one. The print and lettering are simple, but interesting, and it’s the softest finish on a great faded cotton/viscose blend tee. It satisfies both my inner pessimist and my sarcastic nature, plus it’s also pretty appropriate with everything that’s going on here in the UK right now too.

Talisman

With the weather suddenly turning a lot more autumnal, I thought I ought to make the most of being able to throw on something so simple before stepping out of the door. I’m sure you all know by now that I live for layering up all black in the cooler months, but there’s no denying there’s something so perfect about just throwing on one single, simple piece. I love pieces like this H&M shirt because they make this kind of dressing effortless, and also look just as good layered up too. It’s a basic item, yet the simple asymmetric cut makes it anything but.

I spoke about Ailsigr in my last post, when I showed off some of her beautiful silver pieces. She also works in bronze, and this talisman necklace is my favourite piece after the beautifully statement mountain rings. Inscribed with mysterious symbols, it has an aura of history and magic, and is another perfect example of a simple piece made extra special.
