Last week I got an email from StylistPick asking me if I’d like to take part in their ’7 Days with Stylistpick’ challenge. I’m never one to back down from a challenge, so of course I accepted! My task is to wear one pair of shoes for 7 days & document each outfit with photos & a mini video diary.

I decided to choose the beautiful ‘Eleonora’ boots. Yes, I’m predictable, they’re chunky black boots & I know I could have chosen something a bit more ‘exciting’ but I fell in love & had to have them! The shape is perfection & one of my favourite ways to keep an all black outfit interesting is by mixing textures, so the fuzzy velvet covering them is perfect for this (I can’t stop stroking them either!)

I’ve been getting a little obsessed with coats recently, even though I’m not much of a coat person, I usually prefer to just layer up knits & jackets once it gets cold. I blame walking past the AllSaints windows, I want every single coat on display! I must resist though, I’m trying to save up for the Margiela x H&M collaboration.

In an attempt to stop myself pining for an AllSaints coat I decided to dig out my old Topshop one, I’ve had this coat for about 5 years now & it is still the only winter coat I own. I think you can never go wrong with a trench coat though, it’s such a versatile & classic piece, and one in thick, heavy wool is just perfect for winter & so cosy too. Wearing it undone gives a casual, slouchy look & buttoned all the way to the top it has a military kind of smartness to it, I really love hard working pieces like this that can achieve so many different looks depending on how they’re worn. To be honest, I had forgotten how nice it is, maybe I don’t need a new one after all…

If it wasn’t for the fact that my maths skills are beyond horrendous, I would most definitely have gone into physics instead of art & fashion. I would have loved to have studied cosmology, but I knew I’d never be able to pass the entrance exam when I struggle with even basic mathematics! I can easily grasp the ideas & principles, but when it comes to the formulas I’m totally lost! I’m sure most of you are aware by now of my fascination with the cosmos, so it’ll come as no surprise that Kennedy Space Center was another day I seriously enjoyed. It was a really nice change from all the Disney parks we’d done the week before too.

This was one of the last places we visited & it was the only time I actually remembered to take some outfit photos! Sorry about that! How stunning is the ‘Rocket Garden’ though? Things like this always really overwhelm me, it’s so awe-inspiring standing at the foot of these ginormous machines & seeing just how massive & what a feat of technical engineering excellence they really are.

There were so many amazing pieces on display too, I especially enjoyed the little Apollo 14 exhibit they had. There were chunks of moon rock, astronauts diaries, prototype spacesuits & even Alan Shepard’s actual space suit from the mission, still covered in a silvery layer of moon dust! I got pretty excited about that one, I know it’s just dust, but it came from the moon, how amazing is that?! They also had the actual Apollo 14 capsule there, which I loved! The Hubble exhibit was another favourite, huge back-lit images from the telescope covered the walls & it was really quite magical to see them at such a large scale & felt almost as if you were amongst it all.

Like the big kid that I am, I had so much fun playing around with all the interactive exhibits they had too! I got to touch a real (3.7 billion year old!) piece of moon rock, rode the space shuttle launch simulator (not as good as the one at Epcot, sorry NASA!), sat in a mockup Apollo capsule, experienced what a shuttle launch was like from the control room & got to look around a replica cockpit!

This necklace from Lux Coronette is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery. Cast from a real lions claw & made from recycled bullet casings, I think it’s really unique & I love the idea of something so destructive being turned into something so beautiful. I’m a Leo, so I feel like it’s a good talisman for me & I’ve become incredibly attached to it. I don’t actually believe in horoscopes/star signs at all, but I love the idea of them & the mythology that goes along with them, plus I’m often told I’m quite cat-like, so maybe there’s a little something there!

The very yellowish gold colour of the casings is really unique too, and the fact it’s in no way plated & will not discolour is a huge bonus to me. I hate getting attached to wearing something, only for it to become discoloured & unwearable within a month or so. It’s the main reason I mostly steer clear of cheap jewellery. I made an exception for this Forever 21 chain bangle though, it was too cheap to pass up & once it discolours I’m going to spray paint it matte black, I think it’ll look just as nice like that & hopefully that will get me a few more wears out of it!
