OS is a handcrafted accessories line based in the Philippines using polyurethane to produce hyper realistic reproductions of bones for necklaces, harnesses & rings. The reproductions look & feel like real bone, giving the pieces a raw, almost primitive kind of beauty. Yet, they also feel incredibly modern, thanks to the pristine, milky white colouring that is without the usual blemishes, scars & imperfections you’d find on real bone.

The vertebrae choker is easily my favourite piece & is going straight onto my wishlist. You know how much I love a ‘conversation piece’ & this is definitely one of those, plus I imagine it would look seriously striking against my usual all black. The other pieces are equally as beautiful though, and with my love, borderline obsession for bones & anatomy in general, I get the feeling I may end up amassing a small collection of their pieces…

I’ve been sorting through all of my degree work in the attic over the past week & have come across all sorts of things I had forgotten I’d made! I kept everything in garment bags totally pristine, just incase I needed them again for something, then it dawned on me that having been graduated for over a year, I’m not likely to need them again! I’ve hung all the pieces that fit me in my closet, so I’ll hopefully get some wear out of them, I hate the thought of them just collecting dust in the attic, especially now I no longer need to be so precious about them!

I’ve worn the skirt a few times before, but this is my first time wearing the shirt out. I brought this beautiful rustic looking cotton way before I knew what I was going to use it for, I just fell in love with it & had to buy a few meters. It is so thin & soft, it has that kind of worn look to it that I am so fond of & gives the shirt a real loveworn look with the way it creases so easily. I know a lot of people this would bother, but I’m not really a fan of stiff, perfectly ironed shirts & I hate ironing! I quite like it all creased, I think it adds a little character to it & stops it looking too harsh with the graphic cut outs. I hated this shirt for a long time because the little triangle cutouts caused me so much stress when making it, but I’m starting to love it again now & can see myself wearing it a lot more.

The skirt even though it’s quite plain & simple is one of my favourite things I’ve made, purely because it’s so practical. I love highwaisted skirts, but I also have a long torso & it’s almost a guarantee that they’ll be short to the point of flashing my cheeks because of this! I don’t want that, so I made this skirt the perfect length to still be a mini, but also keep everything covered! The notches & panels with diagonal stitching down the sides add a subtle bit of interest, keeping it from being just another boring black skirt.

I’m still in love with all things rose gold & this gorgeous, classic looking watch from Daniel Wellington is my latest edition. I love men’s watches & I have a real soft spot for ones with leather straps, so I knew I’d get plenty of wear out of this one. I love how slim the casing is & how minimal & unfussy it looks, it gives it a real elegance & means it goes with absolutely everything too.

This belt from Bracher Emden makes me feel like a super hero in disguise, it’s one of those things that as soon as you put it on you morph into this super confident, kick ass type of character. The width & tightness make it impossible to slouch, so you are automatically given a more confident posture, but it’s the unusual angular shape, mix of textures & geometric slices that really make a statement. Like all of their bags it’s beautifully constructed in the most gorgeous leathers & has the signature magnetic fastening to the back, making it look super slick from all angles. I love that all of their pieces are very statement making without being too fussy, even though they’re often intricately detailed, the tone on tone colours & graphic shapes keep them looking very clean & minimal too.

I kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple & in keeping with the super hero kind of theme, chunky boots & a hint of spikes was all it needed. I love this dress from Costume Dept. it’s really basic but the asymmetric neckline makes it that little bit more interesting. I brought it from the sale on ASOS, having never heard of the brand before & have since been unable to find hardly any of their other pieces, they don’t even appear to have a website. It’s a real shame, I’d love to see what else they have to offer & would gladly buy more pieces if they’re anything like this dress.

How awesome is this huge boulder we found in the middle of a park? I love how it looks as though it could be the middle of some barren desert, except we’re actually in the middle of a city! It was also ridiculously windy despite the bright sun, which is why my hair is having a ‘Something About Mary’ moment in the first image…

Firstly, I apologize for the fact that I look like I’ve not slept for days, those who follow me on instagram or twitter will know that I got given a huge black eye by a very over-enthusiastic husky puppy whilst we were playing (I’m sure you can guess who!) last week. It’s almost healed now, but the puffiness & swelling is still hanging around making me look seriously sleep deprived!

I might be the only one, but I am so excited to be able to wear my heavy maxi skirts & jackets again, Autumn is definitely my favourite season & I can’t wait to layer up even more. This laser cut jacket from Topshop is one of those pieces I love & yet hate at the same time. I love the beautifully cut back & how attention grabbing it is (I got stopped by 4 different people today just to tell me how much they loved it) but I hate that I can only wear it when the weather’s just right. It’s too delicate to layer over any bulky sweaters to make it more winter appropriate & the suede is too thick, heavy & sweaty to wear during the summer, so I intend to wear it as much as possible whilst I can!

I’m developing a bit of an addiction to Bracher Emden’s bags. It’s as though they’ve peered into my brain, made a note of what my ideal bag would look like & designed them especially for me. I have been taking my Geo clutch everywhere with me, it’s such a showstopper & never fails to get people asking about it thanks to it’s unusual shape, but as someone who likes to pack everything but the kitchen sink into her bags it’s not something I can carry day to day. This soft oversized Lucy clutch is perfect for that though, it has all the same attitude & wonderful design elements of the Geo but in a more practical size & shape. I love the option of the removable shoulder strap & the geometric appliqué which gives it that same sci-fi feel I loved about the Geo.

Mens tees are one of my favourite things to wear, especially when paired with more streamlined & tailored pieces. This one from Camp Beverly Hills is exactly what I’ve been looking for, beautiful super soft cotton, boxy cut & minimalistic text to the front. It’s a perfect basic & I’ve always had a soft spot for heathered charcoal tees, so it’s a great addition to my collection… Well, I say ‘my collection’ most are the boyfriends that I’ve just never given back!

I’m a little addicted to black blazers, I have half a wardrobe full of almost identical ones & so this burgundy version sent by Glamorous is a really welcome addition to my collection. It works so perfectly at giving my usual all-black a little hint of colour & I love the faux leather detailing on the collar & pockets too, it immediately makes me think Teddy Boy. I decided to run with this idea, as I’m a huge fan of tomboyish dressing & paired it with my favourite black shirt & these great shorts I picked up in the H&M sale, so I could make the most of the last little bit of Summer were having. I just couldn’t resist keeping to the boyish theme & climbing the big old tree in the park for these photos either, just for the record though, it’s not something I recommend in 5 inch wedges!

Another thing I haven’t been able to get enough of are these ‘Runaways’ Sunglasses from Aussie brand Le Specs. Their chunky, angular frame & jet black lenses made them an absolute must have for me & I love that despite their purse friendly price, they feel really quite substantial. No cheap plastic frames & flimsy lenses, as I had expected, instead they have a nice weight to them which makes them look & feel much more expensive. I’d actually never heard of the brand before until Sunglasses Shop introduced them to me, I’m so glad they did though, I already have my eye on another 2 pairs!

PS: Yes, I’m still as pale as ever despite the 100°F weather in Florida! I spent the entire time slathered in factor 50+ & hiding out in the shade, I don’t handle the heat well at all, and honestly, I rather like being pale…

We finally had a little sunshine over the past few days & after the miserable last few weeks we decided we ought to make the most of it & went down to the local park. At the very top of the park is a huge old house, which was a school for sometime & now is just abandoned, crumbling & apparently haunted! It has the most lovely overgrown walled garden though, complete with secret passageways & doors, it’s like something straight out of a fairytale.

I thought it would make the perfect spot to show off this shirt dress sent to me by Glamorous! I have a bit of a thing for black shirt dresses & I love the cut out detailing & semi sheer fabric of this one, the gathered bottom gives it a nice girly edge too, which makes it stand out from my other more masculine versions, I couldn’t resist it. I think they have become my thing, much like my black tailored jackets & black boots, that to anyone else they all look exactly the same & I find myself having to justify how they’re actually all unique & different! Though, I will admit, the ‘differences’ between some of my boots are so tiny, I’m not even sure how I managed to convince myself they were different enough to my other pairs to be worth buying! I think we all have at least one fashion vice like this though, I’m not alone right?!

PS: Glamorous currently have free delivery on all orders over £45 & 20% discount with the code GLAMOROUS20! You can also find them on Facebook & Twitter.

Finally it has begun to feel like Summer! It’s been so nice to be able to sit in the garden with an ice cold drink, flicking through magazines & playing with Nico. Fingers crossed it stays this way, though as I’m typing this it seems as though the sky is going come crashing down with all the thunder & hail!

With the sun finally out I’ve been really getting caught up with the Olympics fever everyone else seems to have got already. I’m not usually much of a sports fan but with it being held in London this year, I have to admit I’m finding myself feeling pretty patriotic & excited about it!

I don’t wear my hair up very often, but it has been far too hot & sticky to wear it down, so I’ve been taking the opportunity to practice & test out holiday hairstyles. I feel sort of naked with it all scraped back, so I always have to have a quiff, roll or huge bun when I tie it up & it has to be a little scruffy looking, I don’t do neat! This is a super quick & messy style, but I love that it keeps it all out of my face & off my back without having to use any tight hairbands or millions of uncomfortable pins. Next kindly sent me one of their official supporters scarfs as part of their ‘I’m Supporting’ campaign & it couldn’t have arrived at a better time, I’ve been looking for another nice, large headscarf for a while now. I love that the majority of it is navy, with just a few hints of red & white when it’s tied, I think it keeps it from becoming just another tacky souvenir & I could easily see myself wearing it long after the Olympics are over.

Of course, Nico hates to be left out, so as soon as he saw we were taking photos he wanted in on the action too! We couldn’t resist letting him have a go with the scarf & the photos were too cute to not share! I haven’t had the heart to tell him that there’s no sled dog event though!

PS: Next are currently holding lots of competitions for Olympics related prizes, all you have to do is enter a picture of yourself wearing one of the scarfs to be in with a chance of winning! Go here!

After the previous post about the Nelly launch party and my poor last minute attempt at an outfit shot, I’ve had a lot of you asking for better photos of the dress I made for the event, so I recreated the outfit I wore on the night & headed off down to the park to get some shots. The wind decided to play too, so it was the perfect day for it… I honestly think there is nothing better than swooshing around in a floaty dress in the wind! Though, needless to say we got some rather funny looks from everyone else decked out in tracksuits & sneakers!

I made this dress a few days before the party, I had nothing else to wear & no spare cash to buy anything new. I had been having an awful skin day (yes, still!) so I knew I needed to wear something that I’d feel great in to make me forget about it for the night. I only had a few days to make it, so it needed to be something simple, I used an old pattern I knew fit perfectly & adapted into this, basically an amalgamation of my favourite things in dress form. It’s made from cotton lawn, which is generally a shirting fabric, but it is also one of my favourites to work with & I have used it for just about every type of garment over the years. The collar bone is one of my favourite parts of the body & I always like to give necklines a little notch mimicking the shape, it’s a subtle but a nice detail I think & you’ll probably notice this quite a bit on things I’ve made. I also love anything asymmetric, so cutting the hem this way was an obvious choice & helps it look a little more interesting.
