With the mixture of snow, gale force winds & buckets of rain that we’ve had here for the past few days I’ve not been able to shoot an outfit for today, so I thought instead I’d share with you all a couple of the things I’ve currently got my eye on…

As I mentioned in the last post, I’ll always have a soft spot for a good blazer & this one from Helmut Lang is possibly my dream jacket. Satin lapels, slight wrap to the front, cropped back & a nice sharp silhouette, it’s also at 65% off on The Outnet making it a huge steal. As usual though, there are none left in my size & it has left me obsessively searching Google & eBay for any that are still around that I can fit into! I need this jacket!

Another thing I will always love is beautifully draped jersey pieces, I can never have enough of them. The knotted AllSaints dress is the perfect shade of charcoal, in the softest viscose jersey & the heavy draping makes it so much more than just another basic dress. I’m also a little bit obsessed with the draped skirt from Inlovewithfashion, it reminds me of a Helmut Lang one I wanted last year, but I couldn’t find one anywhere in black. This version looks like it’s a slightly heavier jersey, which I actually prefer & is a fraction of the cost too.

I don’t think I even need to mention how much I want all of the accessories, every single one would fit so effortlessly into my wardrobe. The Topshop boots & bag are at the top of the list though. I need more black boots like I need a hole in the head, but the woven texture on these makes them too good to pass up.

One of my favourite things I got for Christmas was this sequined biker jacket that Mary Jane Fashion sent me all prettily wrapped up with a pink bow & a little Christmas message. I’m obsessed with nice packaging, so this little extra touch made it all the more special.

I admit, it’s not usually something I’d choose (with it not being black!) but as soon as I tried it on I was in love! The sequins are a lovely muted gold with a little black underlay showing through, and the biker style with the contrast black lapels & chunky zip give it more of a grungy feel, which means despite it being sequined I feel like I can just throw it on, even with more casual outfits. Here I kept it very simple, no jewellery & minimal black layers to keep it from looking fussy or over the top.

I’ve just brought my 3rd one of these draped cardigans from Mango, they’re such a great basic layering piece with their long asymmetric front & cropped back, the only downside is that they don’t last very long at all before they look a bit tatty which is such a shame! When I saw it in the sale on ASOS I knew I had to get a 3rd backup just incase I couldn’t find them again once my current one is knackered! Does anyone else buy ‘backups’ of their favourite pieces? It can’t just be me, surely?!

A few weeks ago I was invited down to SNAP Studios in London to take part in More Magazine’s ‘How Would You Wear…’ feature, in which 5 girls each have to style the same item with only pieces from their own wardrobes. This week the issue finally come out & so I thought I’d share it & a few behind the scenes images we took too.

Firstly, the item we were challenged to style was this beautiful William Tempest for River Island shirt dress, I didn’t want to take it off again! I’ve had my eye on this collaboration since I first heard about it, so it was great to get to see pieces from it in the flesh before it’s release. It’s much nicer quality than I expected, the sequins are very securely stitched on & the chiffon base is light, but with a nice weight too & nowhere near as see through as the photos make it look! I decided to keep it simple & let the dress really shine, as the 3 girls who had already been had made it quite casual & dressed down.

I was told before we got there that the editor liked ‘huge toothy smiles’ for the feature & this absolutely terrified me! I’m not much of a smiler & I hate smiling with teeth, so I was super nervous when it came to my turn. I shouldn’t have worried though, the team were really lovely & helped me feel much less awkward about it all, we had a good laugh about them having to force a huge smile out of me! I did feel a little bad for them, I tried so many times to just get away with ‘little smiles’ & it must have been like trying to squeeze blood from a stone getting this huge smile out of me! I always find it funny how people are surprised about how shy I am in front of a camera, I guess they expect that someone who takes photos of themselves in the middle of the street & then posts them on the internet would be super confident, but that’s not the case at all! I don’t think I’m the only one like this either?

I also had the chance to meet the lovely Robyn who was there too, shooting a jeans look for the issue before this one. It’s always so nice to get to meet other bloggers at things like this & it was great to have a good chat with her & hear that she also shared my nerves about putting on a huge smile for the camera!

The photo used is not one I’d personally pick of myself, but that’s purely because I’m not used to the big smile, I always feel I look a little creepy when I smile this huge & I joke that this is my ‘serial killer’ smile because of that! Either way though, I always think it’s important to do things outside of your comfort zone & I’m glad I went along as it turned out to be a really fun experience.

JW Anderson x Topshop / COVET

JW Anderson, Topshop, Collaboration, Designer, Highstreet, Grunge, Lookbook, Autumn, Winter, 2012,JW Anderson, Topshop, Collaboration, Designer, Highstreet, Grunge, Lookbook, Autumn, Winter, 2012,JW Anderson, Topshop, Collaboration, Designer, Highstreet, Grunge, Lookbook, Autumn, Winter, 2012,

I know most of you will have probably seen these lookbook images everywhere by now & I don’t really see this blog as somewhere to post about all the latest fashion news, but I am far too excited about this not to share it myself!

I’ve been a huge fan of JW Anderson since his first womenswear collection, so I was extremely excited to hear the rumors of his collaboration with Topshop. I’ve felt a bit ‘blah’ about most of the recent Topshop collaborations & I didn’t want to get my hopes up too much, but I can safely say that this one has easily exceeded my expectations. I want almost every piece here, but especially the sweaters & shirts.

I would wear quite a few of these looks head to toe (minus the plaid trousers!), if I could afford to buy that many pieces, something which I rarely find myself saying about Topshop’s lookbooks. However looking past the brilliant styling, all of the items are classic wardrobe staples that could easily fit into most wardrobes. The chunky knit sweaters, stripes, oversized shirts & crisply tailored jackets are exactly the kind of things I buy over & over again. They’re chameleon pieces that can be worked into almost any style or look, seasonless & immune to changes in trends, the perfect investment pieces.

I love the grungey styling & look of the images nearly as much as I love the clothes, if not more. We all know I have a soft spot for grunge, but it’s so good, it’s almost convincing me that I need a pair of plaid trousers that I know I’d never wear… Oh, and some roller skates…

BJØRG ‘Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost’ 2012 / COVET

“Combining fragile and organic structures with an aesthetic influenced by futurism and geometry, the collection sets to blend ancient tales with modern mythologies of sci-fi and their futuristic imagery; invoking concepts like timetravel, parallel universes and space distortion. Through a pale, at times translucent colour palette, natural materials like feathers and horsehair are juxtaposed with iridescent colours, industrial structures and mutated shapes. All pieces are handmade.”

I love it when I come across a piece of work where the creators vision has been totally uncompromised & executed so meticulously. This 2012 lookbook from BJØRG I came across a little while ago is a perfect example of this, everything is just right, totally faultless & so in keeping with the aesthetic of the whole collection it’s showcasing.

The photography is breathtaking, I love the grungy, post apocalyptic impression it gives & the hazy dawn glow of the sun makes it feel almost otherworldly too. The outcome is a selection of images that I think tell such an absorbing story about the collection, it really kind of sucks you into that world. I can totally imagine that these girls are stranded on some distant alien planet & have cobbled together the glittering bones & plumes of the animals they have scavenged into these tribal adornments, ready to take on whatever this brave new world can throw at them…

I don’t think it will be much of a surprise to say that I’m totally infatuated with the jewellery too, I love the black horsehair choker, the rusty nail necklace & of course the spine cuffs. It’s as though they were made for me, everything I love my jewellery to be all rolled into one collection.

Three Floor Fashion / SHOPPING

Three Floor Fashion, Lookbook, GrungeThree Floor Fashion, Lookbook, GrungeThree Floor Fashion, Lookbook, GrungeThree Floor Fashion, Lookbook, GrungeThree Floor Fashion, Lookbook, Grunge

Three Floor Fashion was launched in November 2011 by recent Central St Martins alumni Han Chong, the philosophy of the brand is simple, high quality, fashion forward pieces at an extremely affordable price. It has become one of my favorite destinations for online shopping recently, none of the pieces are over £150, which for the quality of design & manufacture I think is a very reasonable price, though, this makes it super easy to get carried away putting things in your basket! I usually find with brands that try to do this type of thing, that the lookbook is styled so well that it gives the impression that the garments are of high quality, but once they arrive they are quite disappointing & you understand why they were so cheap. This is where Three Floor Fashion differs, the clothes are exactly what it says on the tin.

I could see myself wearing almost every piece from the collection, thanks to the lookbook though, the pieces I most want are the amazing hardware headband & chunky cuff, which sadly are not available, or are possibly by a different, unknown brand & most likely not for such a reasonable price!
