Jeremy Geddes<\/a> it was no surprise I adored it. <\/p>\nHis photo-realistic style combined with the surrealist elements of the paintings produces dreamy, melancholic, but also quite unsettling images. The astronaut crashing onto the road of an empty street is eerie, yet the soft colours, hazy light & the inclusion of the lone dove give it such beauty too. This seems to run throughout the core of most of his work, giving even the pieces with a much darker subject matter a certain kind of elegance. <\/p>\n
Even though I would call the paintings photo-realistic, they also have a softness to them, almost like the kind of reality you see when your dreaming. I also love that they still retain that painterly look, despite the realism, it’s very obvious after looking at them for a few seconds they’re paintings, unlike a lot of photo-realistic work which is very hard to distinguish from a photograph. It reminds me a little of the way the old masters did realism. <\/p>\n
My favourites are of course his ‘Cosmonaut’ paintings, for which he has become known, but it would be a shame to not include some of his other pieces too, which are just as gorgeous & I think really show off his outstanding talent in the exquisite faces of the subjects he paints. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
