Over the years I’ve been blogging I’ve come across so many incredibly talented independent designers and I always try my best to showcase them here in whatever way I can, as well as supporting them by buying pieces when I have spare cash too. I have a huge mental list of pieces on my to buy list, so I thought it would be a good idea to get them down somewhere, show them off to you and hopefully introduce you to a few new favourites as well, plus it’s a great excuse for a bumper wishlist – so if anyone’s stuck on what to get me for Christmas, and no I don’t care if it arrives after the day, hint hint!

Somehow this list ended up being pretty much entirely silver pieces, it was only in the last year or so that I started buying silver jewellery and it’s gradually taking over my love of gold. I find it so much easier to wear than gold lately, maybe it’s the cooler weather, but it just seems so much more pleasing against my outfits. Most of these designers work exclusively in silver coloured metals, but a few offer gold options too. There are just too many great pieces here to call out individuals without missing anyone out, so please just browse through the list, pay a visit to their stores for even more beautiful things and consider supporting handmade when you’re buying your Christmas gifts. I think it is so much nicer and more thoughtful to receive something like this as a gift, that you can see has been made by hand and with great effort and care, than something anyone else could have picked up from a large store.

I’ll be trying to make these indie wishlists a semi-regular feature here, and there will be another one focusing on clothing before Christmas too. Please drop me an email or tweet if you know of any brands you think I’d love or that should be included, even if it’s your own, I love discovering new designers to follow.

I’ve had this Stella McCartney jacket in my wardrobe since last year, I snagged it at the last Voucher Codes Swap Shop and I’ve just realised it’s still yet to be featured here. It’s not something I wear very often, as I find it’s not such an easy piece to just throw on, it needs a little thought and I always think it looks nicest when styled super simply like it is here. It’s a thick heavy felted wool and the kimono like shape makes it feel so nice and cosy on cold days, like I’m wrapped up in my robe, which makes me wish I could just throw it on over everything. My favourite part though is the unique, sculptural draped sleeves, they’re such a great focal point that they really don’t need any extra fuss going on, they make an outfit special all by themselves.

This beautiful necklace from Jessica Flinn was my first secret santa present of the year. Organised by the lovely Bethanie we were each given a £30 budget to spend on jewellery at House of Fraser for our giftee, once we’d stalked our bloggers social channels and blog to get a good idea of what we thought they would like, we sent our choices over and they did the rest sending everyone their presents. I was so excited yet nervous to see what mine would be, as I am quite picky with jewellery, and I couldn’t have opened it any quicker once it arrived! My girl did better than good though, it was the most perfect piece – picking up on my love of young designers and starry skies. I truly love it and it’s definitely something I would have chosen myself and can see getting a lot of wear, I actually had my eye on it when I was searching for my girls present!

Don’t you love it when you just throw something together without much thought and it’s unintentionally great? That’s what happened with this outfit. In a rush I haphazardly grabbed these pieces with my main thoughts being on warmth and comfort, and as a quick casual outfit I really didn’t care how it looked, I just needed to get out of the door on time. As I looked through these photos when I got home though, I realised how much I liked it, how it all just worked somehow and I think that will always be one of my favourite things about an all black wardrobe, that I can chuck almost anything on when I’m short on time and it’ll still look put together and like I’ve made an effort, even when I’ve not.

Having a good collection of staples is also the key to this I think, I don’t know what I’d do without all the plainer pieces in my wardrobe and my go to is often H&M for these kinds of things, but Vila is another firm favourite for good, well priced basics. I live in this gathered jersey dress of theirs, they do basics with a little extra so well, and M and M Direct currently have lots for an absolute steal, including my favourite t-dress the ‘Asti’ tunic, I’ve just brought a back up!

Also, what is it about hoodies (or just anything with a hood) poking out the back of a leather jacket that I love so much? Why does it just look so right? I think this will forever be my favourite casual combo, it’s like they were made for each other.
