Gestuz Double Breasted Blazer / Full Circle Dress / Moxham ‘Egypt’ Necklace / Bebaroque Sailor Tattoo Leggings / Topshop Boutique Boots

The wind seems to be following me around recently, every time we try to get some outfit shots the camera comes out & then suddenly out of nowhere it’s stupidly windy! It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have really watery eyes, in all of the photos apart from this one my face was a scrunched up, squinty mess!

I’ve had these Bebaroque leggings for quite a while now & they’re one of those things I always wonder why I don’t wear more often because they are really attention grabbing & great for adding a bit extra to my usual all black, then I wear them & remember why. I brought them in a medium & really ought to have gotten a small, they get so baggy after wearing them for a while, I kinda like them loose & how they bunch up around the knees, but constantly pulling them up is a major pain. I really need to take them in a little so they fit properly soon. I love the print on them though, the old school sailor tattoo design is pretty yet edgy & they have mermaids on too, what’s not to love about that? I originally wanted the tights version, the print was just down the front instead of all over & looked like actual full leg tattoos, but I never managed to get my hands on a pair before they sold out! I have a few other pairs of their tights & they are hands down my favourite hosiery brand, the designs are so unique, great quality & they’ve lasted a surprisingly long time too, which is rare for me & tights! I’m so looking forward to getting them out again with the return of the cold weather.

The latest addition to my growing Moxham collection is this ‘Egypt’ pendant, I’d wanted this for a while but couldn’t decide between the black or nude version, then this one went on sale over at BENGT & made my mind up for me! I love how all of the pieces are the perfect mixture of tough & delicate & they’re real statement pieces too. They’re fast becoming one of my favourite jewellery brands, I’ve already added a few more pieces to my Christmas wish list!

Yiqing Yin ‘Ouvrir Venus’ F/W 2011 / Photographer : Laurence Laborie

I included one of Yiqing Yin’s dresses in yesterdays inspiration post, it literally stopped me dead in my tracks when I came across it. I stumbled upon the image a few days ago on Pinterest & it was frustratingly uncredited & linked back only to a Tumblr account, you probably all know by now that I find this seriously annoying! I absolutely had to know who it was by, and so I spent a good few hours yesterday on Google image search trying to track down who’d made it. I’m so glad I did as her other work is unsurprisingly equally as beautiful, so much so that I thought it deserved it’s own post.

“Yiqing Yin studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, Immigrating from China at age 4, tossed between countries, her clothes have often provided her with a point of reference: “Returning to my clothes, was like living once more within my body and my emotions; I was at home.” Her aim has been to create a garment that protects and reinforces, being at the same time a second skin and a supple armour. Examining the dynamic potential of pleats, she imagines structures which are never fixed, shapes that are always in mutation. She sculpts the emptiness around the body with, as a common thread, the search for balance and points of rupture between the flowing zones and the sculpted zones.”

The masterful draping & unusual, organic shape was what took my breath away when I saw the first image &
this is at the core of all of her other work too. The manipulation of the pleats & draping is so beautifully done it’s almost as if the garments are living, breathing creatures enveloping the body…
