Goldie Pewter Collar Shirtdress c/o StylistPick * / H&M Knotted Belt / Topshop Boutique Wedges / Balenciaga City

When these midi length skirts & dresses first started showing up a few seasons ago, I couldn’t stand them, to me they looked frumpy & awkward. I would never have dreamed I’d end up owning one, let alone writing about how I’ve sorta fallen in love with this awkward length.

Maybe it’s because on this Goldie dress it’s sheer, so it feels less harsh, or maybe it’s just that it’s a black shirt dress & I can never get enough of those, regardless of length. It’s the perfect summer shirt dress, light & airy and the length feels so nice swishing against your legs in the breeze. The pewter metallic collar & buttons are just the right amount of embellishment too, I don’t feel the need for jewellery, which I never like to wear when it gets hot & sticky, it’s too fussy & irritating.

It doesn’t look it, because I’m hiding in the shade as usual, but it was actually a lovely warm day. I know last time I said that in a post I jinxed it & it turned miserably cold again, but I’m going to risk it & say I think spring has finally arrived! Hopefully I will finally get to show off some of my spring buys, without having to cover them over with layers of jackets & knits soon!

That is one seriously beautiful dress! I always felt the same about midis, but I tried one on and now I’m not so anti-midi haha :) I think it’s because so many are bodyconish, but this one seems like something I’d be much more likely to wear! xx

I was exactly the same, I never even thought to try one on & then after I did I was like ‘Hmm, this isn’t so bad, I actually kinda like this…’ Hah! It definitely pays to try things on even if you don’t think they’d suit you! :)

we couldn’t agree with you more about the midi-length skirts/dresses. we’re slowly becoming obsessed with them too. sheer is a good idea to ease others into this look as well. thanks for the tip. here’s to getting others to wear a midi.

I totally agree! They’re a bit daunting to begin with, but I’m surprised how flattering they are when styled right! And thankyou girls, you are too sweet! :)

This dress is gorgeous – especially love the collar. The belt you’ve put over it looks amazing too :) I hope Spring is finally here – it’s a beautiful day here today but the wind is so, so cold! xx

I had the same initial feelings about the length, and while I’ve tried it out, I learnt it wasn’t for me. You on the other hand look positively gorgeous in this midi dress – and you know what, I think you’re right about the sheer fabric. Definitely adds another dimension to the look x

I love this dress on you, you are lucky enough to have lovely long legs to pull off that tricky length!

You look uh-mazing, as per usual! I’m not a fan of the midi length on me but this looks gorgeous. I definitely think the sheer material makes it look like a different length but regardless I really like it. Rawr! ;)

I feel the same way about the midi length!! actually looks great on you somehow, i think the heels help kind of make it less midi-ish if that makes sense. love the collar detail and the belt knot :)

Yes, definitely. I did try it with my low heeled wedges, but it didn’t work at all, these platform ones just totally transformed it though! It’s amazing what a difference the right pair of shoes can make! The belt is an old favourite, I was shocked to find it in H&M, real leather & everything!

I am the same really not sure of midi dresses/skirts. This one looks great on you, it’s such a cute dress. Maybe I should give one a try?

I totally know what you mean about midi dresses, I feel like that too and now I’m actually trying them out. You look gorgeous and chic in the all black. So glad I found your blog, just saw the comment you left on Sonia’s Daring Coco post about my line of satin pillow cases. Thank you.

This dress is gorgeous, I love sheer floaty fabrics like this! I think if you’ve got heels on a midi is way easier to wear xxx

There’s something pretty special about this for sure. I’m not one for this kinda length since it accentuates my shortness further which isn’t a good thing but I am kinda crushing on it. Maybe it’s the leather collar or shirt-like design but heck I am seriously loving it. You might have converted me (until I try it on and realize how ridiculously frumpy and short I look LOL)

    Happy weekend lovely,

Aww Sonia! Get a huge pair of heels & try one on, it makes such a difference! My legs are pretty short too (all my height is from a really long torso!) but the heels make it much more flattering! :) I admit though, the collar was sold it to me, can’t resist a nice little leather detail! ;)
