Last week I was invited down to the Cinderela B showroom by Natasha for an evening of Christmas treats, champagne, cakes & a little jewellery making workshop. Each Cinderela B piece is handmade in their small Spitalfields studio, from 22-carat gold & silver plated metals, semi precious stones & Swarovski crystals. Designer Rachel Jackson was inspired to set up the label whilst traveling in Brazil, where she met Cinderela Brancante, who taught her how to make jewellery and instilled in her that with enough hard work you can achieve anything you dream. The label is now named after her, a nice little reminder of the brands history & story. I had the chance to make a necklace for myself, and one to giveaway to you guys as a little Christmas treat too!

It was a lovely get together with just a few other girls, which meant the girls at Cinderela B were able to give us all some one on one time to show us the techniques to make our pieces. Although I’d consider myself quite crafty, I’ve never made a piece of jewellery before in my life & I have to admit I usually steer clear of anything too fiddly, as my coordination / patience for things like that is pretty much non-existent! I decided to make a simple layered necklace & half and half choker, as I figured I couldn’t mess those up! The other girls were much braver than me, Kylie made a beautiful crystal embellished lariat necklace.

It was a good job I chose simple though, because it took me so long to put my layered necklace together (I think the champagne & me constantly chomping cakes didn’t help either!) that I ran out of time to make my second piece! The lovely Sophie kindly made it up for me though, and in a matter of minutes too! Most of my own jewellery is very simple anyway, I don’t like anything too fussy, so I think they are both very me. It was nice to see how the other girls each made something that really fitted them too, from the same selection of pieces.

Enter below using the Rafflecopter form for the chance to win this 22-carat gold & black agate half & half choker, handmade in London by the super talented Sophie at Cinderela B!

Winter is definitely in full swing now, gloomy, dark days & bitter cold winds. I hate to give up my jackets just because it’s turned a bit arctic though, so my secret is discrete layering – a thermal tee under my top, and wool tights beneath my jeans & I’m just as snug as if I were bundled up in a heavy coat.

These jeans are probably one of my favourite items of clothing recently, as they have a very novel surprise – they’re totally reversible! Made from the softest denim twill they are a basic, premium quality jean from the outside, but turn them inside out & they have an all over subtle bronze leopard print! I was skeptical of just how ‘reversible’ they would be, assuming one side would clearly look like the wrong side but they have employed so many clever solutions that it’s impossible to tell the difference. Tags are sewn inside the back pockets, seams are inclosed inside & out, the button is a popper and the zipper works from both sides. As someone interested in sewing & making, I must have turned them inside out 10 times or more, pouring over these clever little tricks! I’ll be posting the leopard side soon so you can see what I mean!

I also just want to mention these Kurt Geiger wedges, I know they’re quite shamelessly ‘inspired’ by the Rick Owens ones, but as I unfortunately can’t justify another pair at the moment I couldn’t pass these up at such a ridiculous price. Soft nubuck leather, super comfortable & 80% off (down to £39!), how could I say no?! If you have a shoe addiction, I’ll apologize to your bank account now for directing you to Shoeaholics, Kurt Geiger’s outlet site, I’ve already brought 3 pairs from there myself in the past few months…

On Monday I headed down to Browns Hotel with Tara for Next‘s Christmas Afternoon Tea. As soon as we entered the room it felt like Christmas day already, tables were laid out with crackers, champagne & gingerbread men and festive hats & stockings filled with goodies hung off each chair. As you would expect from a store that sells beautiful homewear, the whole place looked incredible with huge trees & pretty decorations everywhere too. I especially loved the little tartan reindeers, aren’t they cute?

Next events are always my favourite, they really know how to put on a great party & it’s always so nice to catch up with everyone, it was lovely to see Tara & Becca again and the lovely Gemma & Ellie from Next too, who were the prettiest angels! I loved that we were given set places around the tables as it was a good opportunity to meet new people, like Claudia & Paula, who were both so nice.

Once everyone had arrived we sat down for the most delicious afternoon tea; sandwiches, scones with jam & cream and a selection of amazing mini christmas themed puddings, all of which were refilled as soon as the last bite had gone. After we had filled our faces we played pass the parcel & got crafty with bauble & gingerbread man decorating, my decorating efforts were definitely lacking after all the champagne but it was so much fun! We had a brilliant afternoon and left feeling pretty merry & just a little stuffed from all the yummy food. I grabbed a gingerbread latte with Tara on the way home, to carry on the festivities for my journey back.

Ollie has been super busy lately, so I was in charge of photos again, I think I actually did pretty well this time – He better watch out! Most of it was down to Claudia kindly helping me out with the settings though, until then I was just haphazardly pushing buttons & dials and hoping for the best! Thanks to Tara for the group photos & the cake pop shot too.
