Bench Stripe Cardigan * / Eksempel Leather Look Dress / Topshop Studded Belt / Galibardy Teeth Necklace / AllSaints Cateye Sunglasses / Rick Owens Wedges / Balenciaga City

One of the first pieces of clothing I spent a large amount of money on was a coat from Bench. It was was made from a thick, cream coloured jersey with a huge funnel neck, it hit just below my knees, had a hidden zip & little holes in the sleeves to poke your thumbs through. The thumb holes were my favourite part. It taunted me everytime I walked past it in the shop window, I wanted it so badly & eventually I ended up spending virtually every penny I got for my 13th birthday on it. It seemed like a massive splurge at the time, but I wore it to death.

This cardigan is not something I ever imagined would have come from Bench, I assumed they were still all sportswear & massive logos, obviously things have changed. It’s the softest viscose jersey, drapes beautifully & I cannot get enough of the subtle black on black stripes, I just love pieces with this kind of low-key detail. They do still make the jersey jackets with the thumb holes though, and I do still kinda want one…

Ooo I like the idea of the thumb holes- I used to do that to ALL of my sweat shirts back in 8th grade. It drove my mom nuts, haha! And that new jacket is s pretty- i like the sheer stripes. very stylish :) and that tooth necklace is SO cool, that’s my favorite part of the outfit!!

I never shop at bench because I have in my mind like you said my perception of the brand. The cardigan/blazer looks great on you.
I also wanted to tell you I get really happy when you leave a comment in my blog. It is real, sincere adn I know you actually read what I wrote. It means a lot to me Steph!

Aw, thankyou Melissa & no problem! :) I only like to comment when I actually have something to say, I’ve never saw the point in just saying ‘nice dress’ or something similar. I’d rather spend my time leaving a few genuine comments on posts I actually enjoyed than a 100 pointless ‘great outfit’ ones! ;)

The fabric of the dress is amazing! It’s actually a sort of coated jersey & not real faux leather, which is why it drapes so wonderfully. I’d love to be able to get my hands on some, I’d make so many things out of it! :D

Jackets with thumb holes are the shit! I remember my first, though it wasn’t a jacket it was a sweater from One Teaspoon and was cropped with some sort of gold foil print. I only brought it for the thumb holes and wore that to death too.

Trying to get over the fact you owned something in cream LOL

Ahahah! I know, can you believe it, me in cream?! It got SO filthy though, it was more black than cream by the time I’d finished with it! Haha!

I love it when you discover old school brands have changed with the times and are totally wearable in adulthood! This is such a sweet cardigan, I really like the draping detail.

Me too! I feel a weird attachment to the brand because of my memories of wearing it as a kid, and so it’s really nice that they now have stuff I’d wear as an adult too! :)

That’s so cool that Ollie is the music photographer for the O2 – I’m yet to see a band there but looking forward to Bastille. I used to love spending my weekends at the Charlotte, it was a sad day when I found out it had closed! You’ll definitely have to let me know if you’re going to be attending – I can’t believe it sold out already (so glad I didn’t hesitate!). You definitely look the part of trendy photographer’s girlfriend :) can’t believe your cardigan is from Bench, my friend used to wear those jackets with the thumb holes ALL the time. The subtle stripes in the cardigan are lovely – something I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if I saw it on the rails! Off to lust over the Galibardy jewellery after seeing your gorgeous necklace xxx

Aww I know! Me too, I was soo upset when The Charlotte closed! :( If Ollie gets me a +1 I shall definitely come along & let you know!
I love Galibardy’s stuff, it’s all brass too, so it doesn’t discolour which I really like & the prices are soo good! :)
