When Ollie’s not shooting my outfits, his main job is as a music photographer (you can see his work here). The biggest perk of this for me, is that I get to tag along as his +1 to all sorts of gigs & festivals, and it’s getting to that time of year again! I love live music, and there’s nothing better than standing around outside with your friends in the sun, with a nice cold drink discovering new bands & seeing old favourites.

One thing I get asked a lot by people, surprised I actually enjoy camping & festivals, is ‘what the hell do you wear to a festival?!’ I guess they assume I wouldn’t have anything festival appropriate in my usual wardrobe. I always find that funny, as a lot of my outfits are actually quite casual & plain, it’s just the head to toe black makes them seem much more put together. So, I thought it would be fun to do a festival inspired outfit to show you what I mean. Obviously I’m still all in black & I think this tricks peoples eyes into seeing a ‘smarter’ outfit. Imagine these shorts were light denim & this shirt was checked though, and I’d be wearing virtually the same as any other girl there.

I have taken a pair of Huntersicon along with me to pretty much every festival I’ve been to since my first, they are such a staple & nothing comes close to them in terms of comfort, which is so important when you’re spending 3 days walking around. They can take a bloody good beating too, mine have seen so many sludgy fields, been caked in mud, danced in till the sun came up, folded & squashed into bags and they are still going strong. I can’t wait to get this sparkly new pair mucky!

that is so cool that he’s a music photographer! And lucky for you for being able to tag along to shows. Super jealous. I never been real camping I don’t know if I’d totally enjoy it but I love outdoor music festivals lol

Love this whole festival look. Esp love the shorts.

Oooh how I love these shorts! I bet you’re always one of the most (if not THE most) stylish person at the festivals you attend. All black does somehow look smarter and I reallllly like this look. I’m totally going on the hunt for some affordable hunters, I definitely think they’re a must for Glasto! <3

P.S If you go to Glastonbury I demand we meet up. ;) xo

Ahhh, Tara! *blushes* Yes, definitely look for some Hunters, they are worth every penny for the comfort, the cheaper brands are no match! I know there’s always lots floating around on eBay, so I’d try there :)
I’ve actually never been to Glasto, and I don’t think they give out +1’s! :( Have an amazing time tho! :D

I’m glad you enjoyed my last post lovely! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone wearing a tied-up shirt that I have liked, but you make it look so chic with your clever and wonderful styling! I absolutely love your coated shorts, I actually thought they were leather on looking at them. Your hair is so long!! You look lovely as usual Steph, I bet Ollie is proud to have you as his plus one :) xx p.s. I love the ‘you can’t sit with us’ tee too ha!

Aw, thankyou! I have to admit, I have a soft spot for tied shirts & that whole rockabilly vibe. The shorts are my favourites, but unfortunately they are very old now & I don’t think they’ll last much longer! :(
And yeah, his Nico photos are amazing, he is so very talented! :)

haha I think a lot of people that go to music festivals they like to dress as if they were in Woodstock 69 you know the hippie bohemian vibe just for the day but I like the way you keep tru to yourself with this black on back festival number that isn’t the stereotype music festival outfit! :)

Thankyou Victoria! :) I do totally agree, it can get a bit ‘fancy dress’ with people just wearing what they think they ought to wear to a festival, regardless of their normal style.

I love that you stay true to your own style, I don’t like those festival looks where everyone goes a bit OTT on the boho and it all just ends up looking like fancy dress! You’re so lucky you get to go to festivals, that’s a big perk! xxx

I have never been to a festival and I don’t know what I’d wear if I did, all of my clothes are super impractical! Love this though, especially those wellies!

Hunters and festivals in the UK are iconic! I couldn’t imagine a festival on your side of the world were no one wear a pair of these wellies hehehe! I love this outfit, you’d ‘fit’ into a festival here in Melbourne since most of us only wear black even in summer. :o)

Totally agree, they really are iconic! I seriously need to visit Melbourne some time, a place where I wouldn’t get funny looks & called ‘goth’ or ‘vampire’ for wearing black in the Summer sounds amazing! Hah! :D

You are so lucky that you get to go to all the festivals! Few summers ago I went to a beach festival in Portugal and then Readin and I loved them! The music and the atmosphere are just great! Of course, for the UK festivals, Hunters are a practical and stylish must (in Reading my purple ones saved my stay…)! Caterina

Hunter wellies are on top of my must have list for festivals! Ollie’s photos are amazing and I think you two need to hit up Australia festivals in Summer – you’d love it :)
