So, this outfit might be slightly influenced by my current withdrawals from American Horror Story: Coven… I just couldn’t help myself when this blouse arrived from Fashion Union though & felt like it was asking to be paired with my fedora & this lovely lace trimmed skirt for the full witchy effect!

I’ve resisted getting a white collared shirt for the longest time now, I always thought that they were a little bit cliche & very over done. I got sick of seeing them everywhere & then suddenly found myself ordering this one, for some unknown reason! Over the course of this blog though I’ve made a point of trying out new things, those things I thought I couldn’t pull off, or that I’d written off because they ‘weren’t me’ even though I liked them. Some were successful, others not so much. I’ve discovered new favourite pieces I would never have looked at before, and this is definitely one of them. I’m looking forward to wearing this in less obvious ways in the future!

This skirt from French Connection is another of those things. As you probably well know, I’m not usually a fan of anything overly girly, I’ve always been a tomboy at heart & so wearing anything frilly or cutesy makes me feel a little weird. I surprised even myself when I fell in love with it, with it’s full shape & the lace peeking out, it’s definitely not something I’d usually choose. Instead of fighting it & dressing it down I felt like I may as well run with it, and you know what? Even though this definitely has a slightly cutesy, schoolgirl like vibe about it, I actually really love it!

I think you definitely could! I didn’t think I would be able to, but surprised myself because I actually really like it. Usually with anything cute I feel more like a guy in drag though! Haha! I think it’s the blazer & shirt that help, keeps it just a little cute & not over the top.

You look so lovely! I felt the same about collars for ages but over recent months I’ve got into them…I think less people are wearing them now so maybe that’s why? But as if you could ever look cliche anyway! xxx

Thanks Josie! :) I agree actually, they are dying down a little now, so I bet that is why… I always seem to finally get into trends once they’re almost over! Hah.

The skirt really, really suits you! I am so happy you decided to buy, even though, you say that it is a bit out of our style zone, I think you did a great job in styling the outfit, I like the peek-a-boo effect with the white collar.
A lot of times I like buying thing that are out of my comfort zone too, just to prove myself of how well the garment can be incorporated in my wardrobe, I think it is really great to buy these things as, therefore, my style is constantly evolving!

Thanks Maddie! Yes, I totally get what you mean, it’s definitely important to keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone (with everything in life, not just clothing, actually!) so that you can keep evolving, otherwise I think it’d get boring very quickly.

Now that’s style. I really appreciate that certain people/bloggers like you do try to make room for experimenting new things and still keep your style intact. That’s pretty much shows your style is solid. Its so hard to do that in my opinion, honestly. Maybe I’m over complementing but that’s my opinion.

Also have you been watching any anime lately besides attack on titan (if you have finished it)? Just wondering.

Thankyou! That’s a really nice compliment, totally flattered! :)
I have finished it & I am soo looking forward to the next series! I’ve been re-watching Bleach sporadically for months, as it’s one of my favourites, but nothing new as I’ve not really had time to check stuff out. Do feel free to recommend any you think I may like though!

I can’t watch anything scary, even though I love Tim Burton thats as dark as I get. Once again congrats on your new venture designing. I am truly excited for you and I can’t wait to see it all and have another blogger designer added to my list of friends xx

In love with this entire look Steph, I couldn’t have pictured you in the kind of cute schoolgirl look but you’re definitely working it! The blouse is perfect, the collar is the perfect size. My work wear for a while has been one of the Topshop sleeveless collar blouses underneath a jumper, but the collars are quite small and not as satisfying as this one is. I was really surprised to read that the skirt is French Connection – it’s a little edgy with the lace (or perhaps with your amazing style!) and it looks perfect with the blouse, I originally thought it was a dress. xxx
