Renee Ruin ‘ANTI’ Necklace Collection

Renee Ruin ‘ANTI’ Necklace Collection photographed by Steph Cammarano with Makeup by Emma Craddock & Styling by Renee Ruin

Renee Ruin recently launched her first collection of jewellery, aptly titled The ‘ANTI’ Necklace Collection, she describes the pieces as a cheeky feminist reinterpretation or piss take of the classic Carrie sweetheart style necklace. Made from solid sterling silver, the three style available ‘Not Yours’ ‘Nobody’s’ & ‘Nothing’ are full of sass and the perfect way to make a statement in a classy yet playful way.

I love that it’s only obvious what they say once you get close, and the idea of people assuming it’s your name thanks to the ubiquity of the Carrie necklaces, only to read it and see ‘Not Yours’ hanging from your neck instead! I think my personal favourite is ‘Nobody’s’ but it’s hard to choose, as they are all equally as brilliant.

Shop the necklaces and Renee’s wonderful writings & prose through her store here.

Warehouse Faux Fur Collar Trim Jacket * / FAIIINT Splice Tank Top / H&M Skirt / Mulberry ‘Mabel’ Bag / F&F Leather Boots

This is the first time we’ve used my camera for an outfit post, I don’t know why but I’ve always been worried the photos wouldn’t be as nice as they are with the main camera. It’s silly, because it’s not like my camera is rubbish or cheap, and it’s so much smaller & lighter to carry around too, I think we’ll definitely start using it more. Ollie wasn’t free, so I roped my Grom into taking these and I think they turned out pretty well, considering it was her first time too! She’s now making me call her Mavis ‘David’ Bailey though!

I’m staying true to my word & introducing little bits of burgundy into my wardrobe, as I said I finally would in my fashion resolutions post and the detachable fur collar on this Warehouse jacket was the perfect start. I was surprised to find this jacket is actually faux leather, I’m usually a bit of a snob about faux, but this is supple yet heavy & with a wonderful pebbled texture. It looks expensive, and pretty realistic too. All of the nice little details like the quilted sleeve cuffs, heavy zippers & chunky stitching, really help elevate it above the usual offerings on the high street too, especially for this kind of price.

Another thing that’s surprised me this week is these ankle boots from F&F at Tesco. I’ve been looking for a good basic, comfy pair of ankle boots that will go with everything for ages now, so when I saw these in a nice thick real leather for £45 I ordered them immediately, but half expected for them to arrive & not be as nice as I’d hoped, the price seemed too good to be true. When they did arrive, they were perfect! The best part, unlike the many more expensive versions of this type of boot I’ve tried on in the past, these have a very generous wide fit and so even with my big wide feet there’s not even a little pinching making them the comfiest I’ve tried. I can’t wait to break them in & scuff them up a bit, I always think boots like this look better a little worn & loved.

FAIIINT Jersey

February 2nd 2015 Updates

Splice Dress / Swathe Skirt / Slash Dress / Splice Tank

The first jersey pieces finally hit the store this morning! This has been a long time coming, you’ll probably remember me saying that these were supposed to be in the store before the end of last year & honestly, if I believed in those kind of things I’d say someone up there is testing me after all the bad luck we’ve had recently. But I don’t, life happens & things don’t always run smoothly & sometimes you just have to give yourself a break.

My aim with these, as with the pieces beforehand, was to create a little capsule collection of the kind of basic, seasonless pieces I wished I could find in stores myself. They’re not super basic, but they’re basic for me in terms of them all being pieces I’d get an awful lot of wear out of & that are hard-working, being able to be paired with almost anything & dressed up or down. You probably know I’m picky about fabrics too, so I hunted down a nice soft, hard wearing & easy to care for viscose jersey with a little elastane for added stretch for all of the pieces.

I’ll be adding more, including some tees once I get the hang of screen printing (sorry, I’m a perfectionist & this may take a while!) over the next months. I’d like to build up a small collection of basics that will be permanently available in the store, and then release larger seasonal collections each year, the first one being this year. I’ll of course keep you guys updated when new items are released, but follow me on Twitter & Instagram if you want little sneak peaks into what’s coming & giveaways, there might even be one on Instagram later today!
