Kofta ‘Hug’ Collection

I came across the first image on tumblr a little while ago, and it left me completely speechless. The eerie feel of the photography and styling, those muted colours, the stark contrast between the models porcelain skin & the layered blacks that surround & envelope her, the images took my breath away & are the perfect backdrop to showcase what a beautiful work of art the clutch is. I searched for hours to find out whom it’s maker was, and was blown away when I came across Kofta‘s website & the rest of his stunning pieces.

I’ve always been obsessed with anatomy, the body is such a beautifully designed machine and I love when little hints of this are used in design. Though here it is more of an obvious reference, I think the black leather makes it rather subtle and I love the surrealism of the pieces too. They are pieces that are, at once, both understated & yet attention grabbing. I couldn’t get the hands clutch out of my mind when I first saw it, it haunted me & I longed to have it. I’m not so sure now, as I think the ‘scoliosis’ backpack is possibly even more beautiful, though I would also kill for the torn leather boots & the wonderful ‘hand’ backpack too.

I had a tough time selecting just a few images to showcase here, as every single one of the 24 piece collection is incredible, but you can view the rest of the lookbook & the other pieces here, you won’t be disappointed. Select pieces of the collection are available through Vertice & ODD.

Wrapping Up

August 30th 2013 Covet

Fashion blogger FAIIINT Autumn Winter 2013 wishlist from Jules B - Annette Gortz biker jacket, Marcus Lupfer Jeweled Beanie, Carven Twist Top, Helmut Lang Drape Top, 2nd Day Paneled Jeggings, H by Hudson Suede Boots, Depeche Leather clutch bag, Candice Cooper Antracite Sneakers

Seeing the Autumn/Winter collections hitting the stores is one of my favourite times of the year, as much as I enjoy wearing thin, floaty dresses, loose tank tops & little else (when our weather allows!) there’s no denying I’m an A/W girl at heart. I love to wrap up under layers of thick jersey, wool, leather, suede & faux fur and I think this time of year is when an all black wardrobe really comes into it’s own, with different textures & shades of black piled ontop of one another.

The standout piece here for me is Annette Gortz‘s wool biker jacket. The coated textured wool, the fuzzy interior & the squishy yet structured shape, it’s total perfection & such a great alternative to a standard leather biker. I had never heard of this label before, but after a little research & browsing I found myself falling in love with many of her pieces. This jacket & her square neck top are right at the top of my wishlist.

I’m currently trying to decide between getting the Helmut Lang draped top or the khaki Carven one, both are heavily discounted in the Jules B sale & would be perfect for Autumn. I think I’m swaying more towards the Carven one, because whenever I like something that isn’t black (rarely!) I feel that means I must really like it & it would be a great moody colour to mix in with my black pieces too. Decisions…

Shooting outfit posts on windy days is one of those things I absolutely hate. We always end up taking hundreds of photos, and just hoping that one turned out nicely. Luckily this time we got a really nice shot, but this was the only one & the others were a sorry mixture of squinty eyes, hair in the air & arms everywhere trying to keep my dress down! The things you don’t see! Many outfits we’ve shot on days like this never even made it to the blog because the photos were so awful, but I’m so glad that this one turned out, as it’s been one of my favourites to throw on recently.

Pieces like this dress from MeeMee are always the most worn items in my closet. Simple, comfortable, but with a little something extra, like the dipped hem here, that adds an extra dash of drama, it’s a hardworking piece that can be just thrown on with no extra thought needed.

It’s the perfect clean backdrop to show off my beautiful Belles Bejewelled pendent too. I had gone off jewellery for a while, preferring tiny, delicate pieces when ever I did wear any, but this necklace is quickly restoring my love for more statement pieces. I love that it’s more of a quiet statement, it blends in with the rest of the outfit and doesn’t overpower it, but it’s unique & interesting, and stands out for that. I’ve already had so many people asking about it & I’m glad to find others also saying it reminded them of an artifact from Tomb Raider, or items from various sci-fi movies too. Nice to know I’m not the only nerd to see these things in it, I can’t lie, it was definitely part of it’s appeal to me!
