Lately I’ve found myself more & more drawn to comfy shoes, it started a few years ago with my vast collection of heels slowly becoming outnumbered by more practical wedges & lower, block heels. I haven’t worn a pair of the high, spiked kind in years now. Over the last few months I’ve started reverting back to throwing on a pair of high tops or trainers with pretty much everything, just like I did as a teen. I’m not sure if it’s an age thing or purely because I’ve seen so many girls lately rocking this look & it’s reminded me of how much I like it. The comfort factor is obviously a huge plus too!

I chucked this on for a day of running around & some shopping, it’s a pretty standard casual outfit for me but the addition of my new Nike Roche Run‘s made it even more comfy than usual. These are seriously a dream to wear, so light & springy, plus the mono black colourway is super slick & means they work with just about everything, without looking overly sporty either. I love that they just kind of blend in to this outfit.

Kasun’s vampire bite ring has been a pretty permanent fixture on my hand lately too, it adds a little kick & interest to even the plainest outfit and has proved to be quite a talking point as well. Everyone wants to know about it & where it’s from!

Pure London SS15

Photos by myself & Tara

A couple of weeks ago I paid a visit to Pure London with the gorgeous Tara of The Style Rawr to check out the upcoming Autumn/Winter & Spring/Summer 2015 collections from some of my favourite brands & discovered a few new ones along the way too. Pure is one of the largest fashion buying events in the UK, and I’m so glad that I finally made it down to check it out.

I had never heard of Dutch brand YaYa before, but their buttery leathers & soft slouchy jerseys all in muted, dusty shades immediately grabbed my attention as we walked past their stall. Me & Tara were both cooing over their beautiful washed blue leather jacket with studded shoulders, the faded blue was such a gorgeous colour, though of course I so wished had been available in a darker grey or black too! I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this brand for the charcoal & taupe jersey pieces next Spring, and be keeping my fingers crossed that come Autumn they’ll be introducing a few black pieces too.

How beautiful are those Elia B silver brogues? I love to mix in more masculine pieces with my wardrobe, but I have still yet to try out a pair of brogues. The plain black ones have, surprisingly, never really took my fancy. I guess in part that’s because they remind me of school shoes, and they feel a little too prim & polished for my style. The silver version feels fresh & a little rebellious though, I couldn’t help but marvel at how beautifully made they were too.

Es’Givien‘s rail of structured black pieces in techy coated laces & laser cut faux leathers was one of my favourites & another brand that I’m happy to have discovered on the day. Perfect bodycon jersey dresses with cut outs & mesh accents alongside more statement pieces like stiff, cocoon jackets made from coated sports mesh, everything had a subtle futuristic feel & you know I’m a fan of anything that satisfies my inner sci-fi nerd!

I came away with a list full of other brands I’d discovered too, though sadly a lot of these newer & independent labels were not so keen on having photos taken of their products, for obvious reasons & fear of copycats. I will be doing lookbook posts when they become available to show you though! Thanks to the lovely Beth & the team from Good Results for having us, it was so worth the early Sunday morning wakeup!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with the incredibly lovely Rosemary from Creatures for a coffee & to shoot some outfit photos to go along with an interview for her blog. I know I’m always saying this, but meeting other like minded people really is one of the best things about blogging & this is such a good example of that. Rosemary is also from my home town of Leicester, but if it hadn’t have been for her stumbling across my piece about the city with Grazia online & getting in touch, we would never have met & that would have been a real shame, as we got along famously! There’s nothing nicer than meeting someone new that you instantly click with & I’m sure we’ll be hanging out again soon.

I’ve been wearing this asymmetric dress from my capsule collection so much recently, the fine cotton lawn & floaty skirt make it super comfortable and cool to wear in the summer heat. The only downside is I that couldn’t bear to stand getting sweaty & iron it properly before I left, sorry about the creases! This is also the outfit I wore to Hyper Japan, for those that wondered what I’d wore or if I dressed up. As I’m sure you imagined, I was pretty much a floaty black shadow amongst the sea of pinks & rainbow colours! I had a few glances from people who I suspect were wondering who I was supposed to be at the event, and then later a woman on the tube home told me she liked our costumes, to which I replied that I always dress like this. She gave a very awkward giggle & then pretended to read the newspaper!

Go read my interview, see more outfit photos & check out Rosemary’s beautiful blog here.
