Lookbook Store Faux Fur Coat * / RockLove ‘Sacred Geometry’ Necklace / H&M Leather Look Tee / River Island Asymmetric Skirt /
Rick Owens Wedges / Balenciaga City

I’ve wanted a big fluffy faux fur coat to wrap up in over winter for the longest time. I could never quite find what I had in mind, and I even debated making myself one, but then this came along from Lookbook Store. I didn’t want one that looked expensive, or glamorous, but something more disheveled and even a bit tacky. Soft long hair, a little bit scruffy looking & pretty obviously faux, this was exactly what I had in mind.

Unsurprisingly, every time I wear it I get a handful of people shouting Game of Thrones references at me. Luckily though, it’s one of my favourite shows & so it makes me more happy than annoyed, to be honest I actually quite like swooshing around in it, feeling like Jon Snow, it definitely makes doing my errands a little more interesting! It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time either, it’s turned bitterly cold now, but cuddling up in this feels like a warm, fluffy hug & makes it so much easier to brave the outdoors.

I mentioned a little while ago that I’d gone off jewellery & that I haven’t been wearing much at all recently, well, that was until my new geo collar arrived from RockLove. I’ve worn this almost every day since it arrived, it sits perfectly in between being simple, dainty even & a more statement piece, plus you know I’m a sucker for anything geometric. I’m already trying to work out which piece to get next, as I want pretty much the whole of the Sacred Geometry collection, and the awesome Viking cuffs too!

PS: The 2nd Birthday Giveaway ends tonight! If you haven’t done so yet, go here to be in with the chance of winning a faux fur snood & a custom maxi skirt!

PPS: Sorry for the (even more than usual) scowl here, my face is all puffed up from swollen sinuses!

2nd Birthday Giveaway Winner!

November 25th 2013 Giveaway

First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone who entered the 2nd birthday giveaway & for all of the lovely comments on that post too, I so enjoyed reading them & it’s so nice to know that so many of you have stuck around for almost the entire 2 years! It means a lot that you continue to come back & read what I have to say, and for all of your support too. I don’t think I can even put into words how much I truly appreciate it.

I wish I could give you all a little something as a thankyou, but obviously that’s not possible, so I decided to do the next best thing & randomly pick two winners, instead of just the one – it is the 2nd birthday after all! The first number chosen through random.org will win the skirt & the snood, and the second number will win a snood!

I am thinking of making this a bit of an annual birthday tradition, so that over time lots of you will be able to win a custom piece, seeing as it had such a good response!

Congratulations to Sara who wins the cotton maxi skirt & a faux fur snood too!

Second…

Congratulations to Allison who wins a faux fur snood!

I will be contacting you both through email to arrange everything later today, congratulations again girls!

PS: I’ve had a lot of people asking about the snood & if they could buy one since I posted the giveaway photos. I’ve decided to offer a few as custom, made to order pieces for £30 + shipping, so if you would like one yourself drop me an email at steph@faiiint.com with the colour you’d like (pretty much any colour is possible) & I will get back to you.

Amy Judd

British born Amy Judd creates elegant, feminine pieces inspired by traditional folklore & mythology, exploring the enchanting relationship between women & nature, as told through these age old tales.

Clusters of wings & feathers emerge from female forms, enveloping their bodies and concealing their faces like a feathery armour, but these are not frail, delicate creatures. Her work effortlessly combines both softness, and strength. Subjects are painted with hazy brush strokes, soft colours and delicate little details but they have a carefree, feminine strength to their poses, grabbing & holding your attention immediately. Just as a birds fragile wing conceals it’s hidden power of flight, of freedom, these pieces seem to speak of the inner strength in every women behind the softness.

There is definitely a touch of surrealism about her pieces too, and they remind me a lot of Magritte‘s work, in both the technique, with it’s soft focus realism & the subjects, their obscured faces & the copious use of birds as symbolism. They also have the same dream like feel to his pieces, blurring the lines in a subtly unsettling way between the dream world & our reality.
