I’ve gone from having no flat boots to becoming a little addicted to them. Like with most things that you didn’t realise you were missing out on, I really have no idea why I stubbornly shunned them for so long. I guess maybe I just never came across the right pairs, until now. My newest additions are from Daniel, made from a wonderfully soft and perfectly distressed looking leather they are quickly starting to rival my beloved hi tops for my most worn super casual shoes. As I get older comfort is becoming increasingly more important to me, I just can’t be bothered to be on my feet all day in uncomfortable shoes no matter how good they look, but these hit that perfect mix between the two.

Talking of perfect, I still haven’t got over how much I love this biker, I think I’ve worn it almost every day for the past few months and I still feel a little smug every time I put it on. Sometimes it really does pays to wait for the perfect piece to come along. The Outnet has a really nice selection of MuuBaa jackets in at the moment, sadly not this one itself, but I did notice they have a few that were also on the rails when I brought it, so maybe it may come up for sale. I’ll keep my eyes peeled and give you all a heads up if I spot it anywhere, I really couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Why is it that when sale season rolls around and you have spare cash there’s nothing you really want to spend it on, but as soon as you’re trying to save money, suddenly everything in the sale is something you need? This time is definitely the latter for me. I’ve treated myself to a few pieces lately but I just can’t seem to stop window shopping and tormenting myself with all the great things I really shouldn’t be spending money on, even if they are ridiculously discounted.

I think it may be about time I actually brought this French Connection draped dress though, I’ve just noticed as I was typing this up that this is the second time it’s appeared on a wishlist now. I figure that’s a pretty fair justification!

I have to admit, if this faux leather and fur biker jacket was real leather I’d definitely have already brought it. I just can’t see faux leather as an investment piece though, and so it doesn’t meet my self imposed buying rules for new jackets. I have far too many as it is, so any I add to the collection have to be wear forever pieces. I keep seeing this a lot lately, really beautifully designed jackets and shoes that I would love to buy, until I see that despite the fairly high price they’re faux. Maybe I’m just being a snob about it?

Last month House of Fraser challenged me to take part in their #mystylemydress campaign and show how I’d style this Vero Moda tee dress. The same dress has also been sent out to a group of other bloggers and the aim is to see how differently everyone styles the same piece. I always enjoy these kinds of challenges as it’s so interesting to see just how diverse and personal all of the looks are, plus it’s great for picking up styling ideas that you’d never have considered too. I’m really looking forward to seeing the other girls posts, and you can check the hashtag to find them too. Each of us was also sent a surprise accessory to go along with the dress, and mine was this hat, which I got a little over excited about when I saw! It’s nice that there was clearly time put into choosing a piece I’d really love and you can never have too many good hats.

The dress itself is a great basic, so it’s perfect for something like this as the options for styling it really are endless. Made from soft viscose, the little details like the longline shape, boat neck and slightly flared raglan sleeves help elevate it to something a bit more interesting than just another tee dress. It’s a piece that could easily be dressed up or down, but for this I decided to go for a fairly casual look, belting it to give it a little more shape but still keeping it nice and slouchy with my draped jacket thrown over. I always feel like simply putting my fedora and these lace up boots on can make even the most casual outfits seem more put together anyway.
