Indie Designer Wishlist

Nuit Wool Cape with Icelandic Sheepskin Collar / Osteal Brass Moon Necklace / Maude Nibelungen Hand Knitted Shawl / Agashi ‘Josephine’ Harness /
Helmouth Apparel Hoodie / Fred’s Suede Brogues / A Weathered Penny Notebook / Rokit BCBG Max Azria Vintage Leather Jacket /
BloodMilk ‘Belonging To The Underworld’ Ring / Eustratia ‘Morgana’ Bra / Sophi Reaptress Crushed Velvet Leggings /
Nocturna ‘Salem’ Coconut & Soy Wax Candle / Havva ‘Presley’ Ankle Boots

Following on from the indie jewellery wishlist I put together last week, here’s the second instalment featuring a few of my favourite pieces of clothing and accessories – and yes, some jewellery too, I couldn’t resist! I had such a hard time picking which pieces to feature for this, so please go and check out their stores for even more wonderful things, I promise you won’t be disappointed and will probably end up with a wishlist twice as long as this one after!

I’ve been wanting to get some pieces from Nuit for the longest time, Anastasia’s pieces are so effortless, simple yet beautifully designed and timeless enough to know I’d still be wearing them for many years to come. I’ve become obsessed with finding a good cape lately and I think this might be the one, the heavy boucle wool and that fluffy sheepskin collar, it’s just too perfect and I can already see myself swishing around in it paired with Maude Nibelungen‘s beautifully delicate cobwebby knitted shawl. I also hear that the raw leather and bamboo cardigan I’ve been drooling over for the past few months has just been restocked in super limited numbers after selling out and now I am so wishing I could justify another Christmas present to myself right now!

Another thing I’ve become obsessed with lately is fragrances and candles, with the most beautiful sleek black packaging and names like Salem and Nyctophiliac, obviously Nocturna‘s candles are high on my wishlist to try. Made from a blend of sustainably sourced coconut and soy waxes with a wooden wick, they are high quality, clean burning and free of unnecessary additives and dyes too.

Not technically indie, but I had to include this vintage BCBG jacket from Rokit, purely as a heads up for you guys, I’m absolutely gutted that it isn’t my size otherwise I’d have brought it already! Probably half a good thing, with my current overflowing jacket collection situation, but maybe one of you can snap it up and make me jealous.

A Festive Weekend in London

Late in November me and The Style Rawr girls headed down south for a short girly weekend in London to catch up, get drunk, do some Christmas shopping and most importantly, for Jade’s very first wedding dress fitting – which I have been trusted to make! I’m so excited to be working on something completely different to what I usually do, and I really can’t wait to get started on the final piece and see it on her, it’s going to be so unique, and so Jade!

We were booked in to stay at Premier Inn’s Southwark hotel, the rooms were lovely and big with huge king size beds, a nice sofa bed in the corner and all the tea we could drink. We stayed up too late talking about hot boys and weddings and yet we still woke up feeling refreshed thanks to the super comfy beds. We couldn’t have asked for a better location either, it’s literally around the corner from the Tate Modern, so of course when I told Tara and Jade this and learned that neither of them had been before I had to take them for a little visit! We also had a pub, coffee shops, a restaurant and a Tesco express for all the snacks right on our doorstep, plus we were just a short walk from Southbank too.

After realising we’d spent far too long in our room chatting, drinking and generally laying around, we were never going to be able to fit in any real Christmas shopping now, so instead we decided to take a walk down Southbank towards the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge to grab something to eat and help put us in the festive spirit with plenty of warm mulled cider. As we walked along the riverside twinkling with lights and past the smells of the Christmas markets, all bundled up in our scarves and hats, we couldn’t help but start to feel pretty Christmassy, and then we saw the lodge! It was like a mini winter wonderland, draped in fairy lights and scattered with Christmas trees and firepits to drink around, blasting all the best RnB, Soul and Hip Hop from the past 30 years, I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to spend a chilly winters evening. We sang along, danced, got merry and stuffed our faces with mac & cheese and pizza before heading back to the hotel to curl up.

We had such a fun weekend, and I can’t wait until we can get to together again. I always say this, but it is genuinely one of my favourite things that has come from blogging, and that’s making such great friends like these girls ♥

I just couldn’t resist going for a full 70s look when this perfect jumpsuit from F&F‘s latest Christmas collection arrived. It already ticks most of my boxes when it comes to clothing by mixing black on black textures with chiffon and a lovely heavy velvet, but it also has those great wide legs and tie neck as nice little nods to the era whilst still feeling quite modern. I’ll be dressing this up by simply wearing it as it is with simple jewellery and sandals for parties over the festive period, but it also looks just as good dressed down and it was seriously calling out for my shaggy faux fur to be thrown over it.

I’m such a slave to my skinnies that I forget how much I love wide leg trousers until I put a pair on, and now I’ve found myself craving more looser fitting styles again, I’m even eyeing up a pair of flared jeans – not something I ever thought I’d be saying after some of the horrors I wore in my school days! I think in the right fabrics and cuts they can be quite elegant though, and very flattering too, plus like a maxi it’s just such a nice feeling to walk around in them with the fabric swishing around your legs. I also feel like I need more velvet in my life now too, surprisingly I own barely any, not even the ubiquitous black velvet dress, I think I need to fix that!
