This editorial has been haunting me since I first came across it, everything is just so utterly perfect & I love that it has a real sense of emotion about it too, real depth. I rarely share editorials on here, as I don’t often come across many that really blow me away anymore & feel worthy of a post, which is a great shame, but this one definitely did.

I know Codie Young is one of those love her or hate her type of models, but I adore her. Especially when she’s like this with minimal makeup & that vacant stare, she reminds me of the women in Da Vinci’s paintings with her heavy lidded eyes, delicate features, porcelain skin & flame hair. She is that perfect kind of unusual beauty.

I urge you to check out the rest of Nhu Xuan Hua‘s portfolio too, her other works are equally as breathtaking as this, some perhaps even more so & she is firmly being added to my mental list of favourite photographers too.

Fuzzy

Angeleye fuzzy jacket, ASOS Cardigan, George at ASDA dressSkin by Finsk lace up black wedges

These were taken a few days ago when the weather had turned a bit miserable again, though I’m not going to moan, as it’s been back to sunshine since then & I don’t want to jinx it! At least it gave me another opportunity to wear my chunky cardigan & fuzzy jacket before hopefully packing them away for the season.

You may notice these shots aren’t up to the usual standard around here, Ollie forgot the charger for his main camera & so we decided to use the little Nikon D200, it was his first DSLR & now it lives with me as my ‘learning’ camera. It works well for details & the things I use it for, but to be honest I thought the full length shots would turn out awful. I’m actually pretty impressed though, obviously it’s not a patch on the D4 but I still think they came out decently, especially considering it’s almost 10 years old!

Active

FAIIINT Wishlist Rag & Bone kent sweatshirt, Oh my Love skater dress, Proenza Schouler backpack, Frends taylor oil slick headphones, Joomi Lim stacked rings, Report Signature ankle boots.

Something about the warmer weather always makes me feel like digging out my sportier looking pieces, I think it’s because it reminds me of summer holidays & hanging around at the park with my friends. Would you believe me if I told you up until I was about 13 my whole wardrobe was sportswear & baggy jeans? I was such a tomboy!

It seems Selfridges have that same feeling this year, their recently launched Board Games campaign in collaboration with Dazed & Confused has got me lusting over pretty much all of the black sports inspired pieces & is giving me yet more cravings for that illusive perfect backpack too, not to mention the awesome custom skateboard decks. Now, why don’t I have a spare couple of grand for this Proenza Schouler beauty? I’m pretty sure it’s the one.

I’ve been meaning to get a decent pair of headphones for a while, and after seeing these Frends ones when I was at Fashion Weekend they are now right at the top of my wishlist. Ollie laughed when I showed them to him, saying I only wanted them because they’re pretty & I have to admit he is kind of right. I never thought I’d be calling a pair of headphones beautiful, but have you ever seen a more beautifully designed pair?

Wayfarer

All black spring summer goth outfit.

Finally the first glimpses of Spring & some proper sunshine, after the last few weeks of gloom it was a nice surprise to wake up to such lovely weather & so of course we had to make the most of it. I must admit though, it was only warm enough to walk around in just this dress for about an hour, and then I did have to put my cardigan over the top. It was so nice after having spent months bundled up in layers upon layers to have my arms out, if only for an hour!

This dipped hem dress is one of my recent favourite buys, it’s perfectly simple, but with a little added drama thanks to the hem & voluminous draped shape. I actually have two others dresses that look similar to this, but the lightness, extra volume & beautiful fabric of this one meant it was definitely a keeper. I finally got my hands on a new pair of Wayfarers too thanks to Pret A Voir, you just can’t beat a classic & these are the ultimate.

LumberJack

No your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a little colour you see! I’ve always been a grunge kid at heart & I could never resist a little plaid, though these days I tend to wear it more for slobbing around home than out of the house or tied around my waist like I used to. I threw this jacket over the top of the shirt one day when I was in a rush to take Nico out, and unexpectedly loved the combination & the way the sliver of shirt peeking out makes such an impact against the black, so I had to work it into an outfit. I guess you could call this an updated version of my teenage self, a kind of goth grunge!

I think you’ll be seeing this dress from OASAP around quite a lot, it’s the perfect layering piece, just the right length to be a dress or a top & I haven’t been able to stop wearing it. I know a lot of people don’t like the cheap polyester chiffon pieces from these type of stores are made from, but I honestly prefer it, it’s so much easier to care for & longer wearing than the nicer, but far more delicate kinds. I can’t count the number of times I’ve brought a beautiful silk or silk mix chiffon blouse or dress only for it to develop tears & holes after only a few gentle wears, to me it is not worth it especially when it’s something like this that you want to wear as an everyday piece. My dislike for it may be slightly influenced by my memories of what an absolute nightmare the silk kind is to work with & sew too!
