One of the best things about having a blog is getting to read back through it all at the end of the year and reminisce. From a style point of view, I always like to review the outfits posted too, the ones I loved & those that didn’t work so well. When I did the same for 2012, I found it helped a lot in refining my style & figuring out what silhouettes and shapes suited me most. Of course, there were no outfits I hated on here, though there were a few I hated enough to never post. These are my 15 favourites from the last year, and comparing it to 2012’s favourites I feel you can definitely see the development.

2013 was the year I stepped out of my comfort zone more, tried things I’d always dismissed as ‘not very me’ & was surprised with the results. I now have a new found love of hats, and went from owning 1 beanie to 7 of all different kinds, the fedora I was originally scared of trying barely left my head. Prints also worked their way into my wardrobe, and I learned they can be a great accent to black when chosen wisely. I let my dorky side out a little too, pretending to be Jon Snow in my faux fur, channeling Ripley, giving in to galaxy print & prancing around with my unicorn clutch.

For 2014 I hope to do more of the same, further refining, more experimenting and generally just feeling even more comfortable & confident in my own skin and my choices of what I cover it with.

Ah, love this post! And you’re so right – having a blog makes looking back so much easier! I love the looks from 2012 too, but you’re right, we can totally see the development! Happy New Year! :)

Happy new year chickaroo! I have to laugh at your new found love of hats comment ;) we all know what happens to your poor unsuspecting hats. I still love the second row one far right. Love the legs to the side and the gust of wind. X

Hahah! I’m a bad hat owner, RIP fedora! ;) I still love that one too, I wish all shots on windy days came out as nice as that one though, usually they’re just a mess!

You’re always so well put together and somehow you manage to make all black outfits always look totally different! I’m glad you braved the hats because you’re definitely a hat person. I love that you linked your 2012 faves, it’s great to see how your style has evolved! xxx

Thanks Josie, I always try my best to keep it from being boring or too samey :) Never thought I’d see the day, but I definitely plan on getting a lot more hats! ;)

So many beautiful looks! It’s hard not to be drawn to the ones including the handsome Nico haha. ;) I think my all time favourites are your Jon Snow look outfit and that incredible River Island x Georgia Hardinge dress but I really love them all! I hope your 2014 is full of health, happiness and hats. :)

I couldn’t do a roundup & not include him ;) The dress was definitely one of my favourite buys last year, though I have to tell myself not to wear it too often, so it keeps the wow factor & stays looking nice!

Thanks Steph! :) I agree it’s such a ‘wow’ piece, I’m trying to be super gentle washing & wearing it because it’s just t-shirt jersey & I want to keep it looking nice for as long as possible. I wish it had been a thicker fabric. I’m not sure if it’s dedication, I just don’t feel as comfortable in other colours so I’m never really tempted by them (unless it’s a very special piece) hah! ;)

That printed dress is gorgeous and fits you so well, but my favorite would have to be the Jon Snow faux fur fit!

I couldn’t agree more, I am planning on making my 2013 bets outfit moments on my blog too & as I scroll through my images I can see how my style has changed a bit as I am more confident in wearing clothes that I was afraid of wearing!
I really, really love your sense of style- it is very dark and a bit magical, if I could say so! Cannot wait to see more outfit posts in 2014! :)

I love that you wear black so well. The shot of you with your hair up stands out to me here – you should definitely wear it up more often!
